Publication Ethics

Data Analytics and Intelligent Decision-Making (DAID) is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in scholarly publishing. We adhere to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and ensure transparency, fairness, and integrity throughout the editorial process. All parties—authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers—are expected to comply with these ethical principles.

 

1. Editorial Responsibilities

1.1 Independence

The Editor-in-Chief and editorial board of JDAID maintain editorial independence and ensure authors’ freedom of expression. The final decision to accept or reject a manuscript rests with the Editor-in-Chief, typically based on peer review recommendations. However, submissions deemed unsuitable may be rejected without external review.

1.2 Impartiality

Editors evaluate manuscripts solely based on academic merit, free from personal, ideological, or institutional bias.

1.3 Conflict of Interest

Editors and editorial board members must avoid conflicts of interest (e.g., reviewing submissions from their own institution, co-authors, or competitors). If a conflict arises, the manuscript is reassigned to another editor or reviewer.

1.4 Confidentiality

Manuscripts are treated confidentially. Editors and reviewers must not disclose unpublished content or use it for personal gain.

1.5 Peer Review Process

JDAID employs a double-blind peer review system, ensuring anonymity for authors and reviewers. Reviewers are selected based on expertise and must provide constructive, objective feedback.

1.6 Timeliness & Quality

Editors ensure timely review (typically within 4–6 weeks) and uphold review quality by monitoring reviewer performance.

 

2. Author Responsibilities

2.1 Originality & Plagiarism

  • Submissions must be original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism (including self-plagiarism).
  • Authors must disclose prior publication or overlapping content.

2.2 Data Integrity

  • Fabrication, falsification, or selective reporting of data is prohibited.
  • Raw data must be available upon request.

2.3 Authorship Criteria

  • All listed authors must have significantly contributed to the research.
  • Changes to authorship after submission require approval from all co-authors.

2.4 Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose financial, institutional, or personal conflicts that could influence the research.

2.5 AI Disclosure

If generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) are used, authors must:

  • Supervise and validate AI-generated content.
  • Disclose usage in a statement (e.g., "During manuscript preparation, the authors used [Tool Name] for [Purpose]. The authors reviewed and edited the content and take full responsibility for its accuracy.").
  • AI cannot be listed as a co-author.

 

3. Reviewer Responsibilities

3.1 Objectivity

Reviews must be unbiased, evidence-based, and free from personal or competitive prejudice.

3.2 Confidentiality

Reviewers must not share manuscript details or use unpublished data for personal benefit.

3.3 Timeliness

Reviewers should submit feedback within 4 weeks or notify the editor of delays.

3.4 Conflict of Interest

Reviewers must decline invitations if they have conflicts (e.g., collaboration with authors in the past 2 years).

 

4. Publisher Responsibilities

4.1 Open Access

JDAID follows the Budapest Open Access Initiative, providing free, immediate access to published articles under CC-BY-NC 4.0.

4.2 Copyright

Authors retain copyright but grant JDAID publishing rights.

4.3 Research Ethics

  • Studies involving humans/animals must include ethical approval and informed consent.
  • Privacy rights must be respected (e.g., anonymized data).

4.4 Misconduct Handling

  • Plagiarism, data falsification, or duplicate submissionsresult in rejection/retraction.
  • Violations are reported to institutions and indexed databases (e.g., COPE, Crossref).

 

5. Appeals & Corrections

  • Authors may appeal editorial decisions within 15 days with a detailed justification.
  • Post-publication corrections are issued for significant errors.
